The Farmers Market Guide for Mississauga and the Surrounding Area
I’m a HUGE fan of farmer’s markets for so many reasons and more and more keep popping up around the city each year. Below is a guide to where you can buy fresh, locally grown food in Mississauga.
Farmers Markets were definitely not something on my radar as a young man, when my diet rarely contained a vegetable, but as I get older and wiser about my body and what it needs, I’ve definitely started paying attention. Combined with the fact that my wife and I have probably watched a few too many food documentaries on Netflix, and now I am committed to pulling my dollars away from factory farms and corporate conglomerates as much as possible. So farmers markets tick all the right boxes for me and I love to go out and see what is on offer.
The trend is definitely gaining momentum, and so the region of Peel created this really cool map showing you not only farmers markets, but local farms that you can purchase from directly. This movement of supporting local farming is great to see, and as more people support it, the more viable these small farms can be. Here is a link to the map:
Below is a list of Farmers Markets in Mississauga. Times and dates can change from year to year so make sure to double check the times and dates. If I’ve missed any that you think should be included here, let me know! It’s all about spreading the message.
On a side note, if you can’t wait for the nice weather, be sure to check out my article on the Milton Winter Farmers Market.
