Last weekend, my wife and I took our two oldest boys on the Santa Train, a 1 hour long train ride filled with food, Christmas carols and a visit from Santa. Being a guy and totally oblivious to how popular this is, at first I was reluctant to make the drive out to Orangeville after a busy day at work but my wife said that the tickets were ordered in July, and that they only have so many trips… so low and behold we were going!

I have to say that it was a ton of fun. The kids really loved the experience of riding on a retro train, eating sugary Christmas treats and meeting Santa.

The Santa Train runs out of the Orangeville Go Train Station, which is easy to get to from highway 10, which is good for, ‘out of towners’ like us!

They even had real live reindeer, which impressed the boys. They thought reindeer were more like a ‘Christmas Unicorn’!

Like an old fashion train, there is someone to take your ticket while boarding. My son said he felt like he was in the Harry Potter movie.

If you want to do something different with the kids next year, I highly recommend the Santa Train if your kids are between 2-8. They’ll have a ton of fun and you will get lot’s of great photo shots. Just make sure to order your tickets early!
