I’ll admit it, over the past few years I haven’t been the best at getting all my vegetables for the day.

To change that, Stephanie went ahead and ordered us a juicer and it’s become an integral part of My 12 Week Fitness Challenge, aren’t wives great…? While I don’t look forward to it as much as the Smoothie, juicing has become a routine at our house and I feel good knowing we’re getting our daily dose of veggies, one way or another!

The routine is to make the juice just before bedtime and then store it in the fridge for the next day. Here’s the nightly routine:

Step 1: Prep

There’s not much to it, just cut up your vegetables into manageable pieces.

Prepping the vegetables ahead of time by cutting into manageable pieces makes the process go much more smoothly.

Step 2: Get Juicing

Feed the pieces in the hole at the top, pretty easy.

Turning slowly and under high pressure, the juicer squeezes all of juice out of the vegetables. Out of the bottom comes the juice and out the end comes the pulp. We put the pulp in the green bin but I’ve heard of some people who use it for other things such as making muffins.

Step 3: Serve or Store for Later

Make sure to strain your juice before serving it, it’ll taste much better.

The Juice!

The Juice!

Stephanie puts saran wrap over the juice, closes the lid on the container tightly and stores in the fridge. Note: If you do your research on juicing many people say that you should drink the juice right away. While this makes sense in a perfect world, we just don’t have the time during our busy days to come home and juice. I’m happy to say this is working quite fine for us, but the choice is ultimately up to you.

By putting saran wrap on the juice and storing in the fridge we make it last until the next day.

Step 4: Cleanup

After you rinse and lightly wash the juicer attachments. Our juicer comes with a special cleaning brush that makes it pretty easy.

Clean and done. All in all it takes about 15-20 minutes to prep, make the juice and clean up.
