No real estate tips today, just an observation that I’ve noticed has been gaining popularity in the main stream media.
So called experts getting national coverage regarding their opinion on the real estate market and what it will or won’t do. Now because I work in real estate and I like to share interesting stories with my clients and colleagues about real estate, I make a habit of scanning the headlines. Now being a positive person, I have no time for the unending negative barrage of news (whether credible or not) but it makes it hard for me some days to find something of interest.
Today was one of those days, that is until I noticed who is writing these articles…. You got it, the vast majority of dooms day predictors are not in real estate! They are actually in financial advising and stock investing. Hmmm… real estate is so bad… in fact, don’t do anything for the next 10 years, jut give me all your money to invest in the stock market!
Okay, okay. I might be a little bit on the harsh side, I have many colleagues who are in the financial services sector and are outstanding professionals who do great things for their clients. The point I am trying to make is that you shouldn’t believe everything you read in the papers or watch on 24 hour news channels as the truth! Look at who is being quoted, the source of the info and ask yourself, what advantage does this person or their company have to gain by people following their advice?
In closing, Real Estate will always be a hot topic, and so it should be. It cost big bucks to own a home and for many people it will be the biggest purchase you ever make. By no means am I saying not to do your homework and err on the side of common sense, just not to let 10 second sound bites decide your financial future.
Awesome!
I came across this post and I have to say it's a great point of view. As an investor who owns multiple properties in Florida I can say that the time has never been better to invest in real estate. Even in a horribly down market like the one we've been experiencing, I always know that my investments will exist and are physical. Regardless of what happens, my properties will remain and they will go up in value again.
You are absolutely correct Sam! Keep look at the numbers, stats and trends to base your real estate decisions on and you'll never go wrong!
Are you able to provide some insights into condos in Port Credit?
Sure thing Stephanie, what would you like to know? The newest Condo to be completed was the North Shore Condo by FRAM. There are also some very nice condos along Port St and high end town homes that face the water along St. Lawrence Dr. If you would like more details please contact me.
