Trelawny Estates, Lisgar
Are you looking for a detached home with the feel of a private community? Trelawny estates in Lisgar may just fit the description. Built from the mid 1980’s to the late 1990’s, Trelawny Estates is a unique community where all of the homes are situated on private cul de sacs, shared by only a few neighbours. Although they are not private roads, the design of these cul de sacs gives you the feeling that you are on one.
Buyers Who Should Consider Trelawny Estates:
1) Large Families with Children:
Homes in Trelawny estates are an excellent choice for larger families and families with children. Most of the homes are 4 bed although there are smaller 3 bed models. There are also some large 3000 sqft homes with triple car garages so you can find any size to suit your needs. There are also a number of parks nearby that are great for both children and adults.
2) The Home Improvement Enthusiast:
While the curb appeal is fantastic in this area, there is a divide in terms of decor for the area. From my experience, half of the homes have been updated and look absolutely amazing, while many are still in their original condition and in need of some cosmetic updating. This provides a great opportunity for people looking to make improvements, and homes in this area that are in show room condition will sell for top dollar.

Buyer Who Might not Love Trelawny Estates:
Just like ANY neighbourhood, Trelawny Estates is not for everyone, and I think it’s very important to know the downsides so that you can make a fully informed decision.
1) Airplane Noise
Air Plane Noise: Like all of the neighbourhoods in north Mississauga, Trelawny Estates lie on one of Pearson Airport’s flight paths. If you are interested in this area you should expect to see planes flying over your home approximately every second day. The good news is that planes are high enough that you shouldn’t hear them inside your house, but when you’re outside, you will hear them.
2) Lot Sizes
In my experience, home buyers either love Trelawny Estates, or they don’t like it at all. Its Cul de scas, the major distinguishing factor of the neighbourhood, do give you a private feeling however many of the homes have small lot sizes and the backyards can be laid out in non traditional ways such as in a triangle. If you are looking for a big, square backyard, this area might not be right for you.
