Why I Love Credit Mills
[/vc_column_text] [vc_column_text width=”1/1″ el_position=”first last”]
Monster Homes, wide lots, great location. What’s not to love about Credit Mills? Credit Mills is an upscale subdivision located in northeast Erin Mills, built mostly during the early to mid 1990’s. What I love about homes in Credit Mills is that they have a palatial design to them, with wide center hall way designs that make a grand impression.
Another great thing about Credit Mills is its location. Situated just south of the Village of Streetsville, you are within walking distance of the festivals, shops and restaurants of the village. Adjacent to both the Credit Valley Hospital and Erin Mills Town Centre gives the area plenty of amenities close by.

Buyers Who Should Consider Credit Mills:
1) When Size Does Matter
If you are someone who is looking for a big home, then this is an area for you. Homes in Credit Mills range anywhere from 3000 sqft to 6000+, with the average home being over 4000 sqft. While home prices in Credit Mills are well over the million dollar mark, believe or not the area is actually a bargain if you look at it from a price per square foot view.

2) The Home Improvement Enthusiast
There are some absolutely stunning homes in Credit Mills, but there are also more than a few that haven’t been touched in 20 years. If you are someone who isn’t afraid of a little home reno, Credit Mills is an area worth considering. One plus is that the area has excellent curb appeal meaning that many of these homes don’t require any work to the exterior. The one draw back is that when you are talking about 5000 sqft, I don’t think there rally is a ‘small’ reno.

4) Schools:
Being situated in Central Erin Mills, Credit Mills is a great location for schools. Both high schools, John Fraser and St. Aloysius Gonzaga are among Mississauga’s top ranked schools. The one draw back I can see is that there are no schools located in Credit Mills proper, so if you have young children you will be driving them.
Credit Mills Schools:
Middlebury (Grade K-5)
Thomas Street (Grade 6-8)
John Fraser (Grade 9-12)
Divine Mercy (Grade K-8)
St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary (Grade 9-12)

Buyer Who Might not Love Credit Mills:
Just like ANY neighbourhood, Credit Mills is not for everyone, and I think it’s very important to know the downsides so that you can make a fully informed decision.
1) Cookie Cutter
As nice as the area is, it is still a suburban subdivision and the neighbourhood has a real cookie cutter feeling to it. Driving through Credit Mills, you will notice that street after street looks very similar and after a while it all starts to look the same. If you are a person who likes variety then you will want to focus elsewhere.
2) Housing Age
Nearing the quarter century mark, Credit Mills is at the age where the homes are too old to be considered new, while they are too young to have some of the common features found in other luxury neighbourhoods in Mississauga. Most luxury neighbourhoods in Mississauga have tons of trees and large private lots, something many buyers look for when shelling out seven figures for a home. Another point regarding the age of homes in Credit Mills is that at 20 years, many of the homes need cosmetic updating which can get quite expensive when dealing with a 5000 sqft home.
