I don’t think I’ve seen a neighbourhood anywhere in the GTA that has grown so fast, or undergone such change in the past 20 years as the Mississauga City Centre. In the 1980’s there was only Square One, a handful of office buildings and the condos along Hurontario Rd and the rest was fields. In 1987 the Civic Centre was built, and the condominiums along web drive in the late 80’s and early 1990’s. In the past 20 years many more buildings, amenities have been built in the area giving it a downtown feel.
The Mississauga City Center is home to many modern, cutting edge designed condominium buildings. Developments such as the Absolute Marilyn Munro towers are known internationally for cutting edge design. Most of the real estate in the city center is condominium, however there are family homes located in pockets south of Burnhamthorpe and East of Hurontario.
The Mississauga City Centre is a culturally diverse community, reflective of modern day Mississauga. Typical residents include professional singles and couples, down sizers and small families.
The vast majority of homes in the Mississauga City Centre are high rise condominiums with a smaller amount of town homes and garden homes. Some of the major condo projects such as Chicago and Absolute of walkup town homes built into the developments.
Developments range in age from 30 years to brand new. Mississauga City Centre has the most opportunity for future development in the city.
Older condos are becoming more in demand as pries rise and buyers see them as an alternative to a smaller house or town house.
Officially opened in 1992, Kariya Park was built to honour the twin city relationship between Mississauga and Kariya, Japan. The park is a quiet oasis in the middle of the city where you can go to stroll, watch the ducks or just relax with your thoughts. It really is a hidden gem in the city.
City Centre has the highest concentration of amenities in the city. For shopping you have Square One, Sussex Centre and all the smaller retail spaces on the ground floor of the major condo developments.
Major amenities include Central Library, Celebration Square, Living Arts Centre, the YMCA, Sheridan College, Playdium and two movie theatres. There are also plenty of restaurants in the area making it an exciting destination for all hours of the day.

Affordability:
Compared to the rest of Mississauga, this area is very affordable; one of the best priced in the city. Prices always reflect demand, and although Meadowvale is safe and has many good qualities, there are negatives that deter certain large groups of buyers. For example, most homes are at least 30 years old and do require upkeep. The growing trend of most buyers is that they want a brand new, all brick home with little maintenance. In Meadowvale, both the homes and yards require upkeep so some buyers don’t prefer Meadowvale. So, if you are one who likes larger lots, older trees and don’t mind a home that isn’t all brick, your money will stretch far further in Meadowvale.
Value:
Meadowvale offers some of the most value in the city. Meadowvale has so much to offer the family buyer; it is a quiet and safe community, certain areas have access to top schools, and it has tons of shopping, green space and transit. Its biggest downfall is that the age & style of home is not what most younger buyers crave, and it has a past reputation that it is still in process of overcoming.
