Founded in the 1800’s by Irish immigrants, Olde Meadowvale Village is a small historical hamlet located at 2nd Line and Old Derry Rd.
Olde Meadowvale Village is an upscale community with homes respecting the charm of farmhouse character. Part of the charm of Olde Meadowvale Village is that it is quite hidden, you might miss if you weren’t looking for it and residents like this. Olde Meadowvale Village is also located very close to the Meadowvale business park, which has many fortune 500 head offices and pharmaceutics companies.
Meadowvale Village also encompasses the relatively newer area located east of Mavis Rd.
While Olde Meadowvale Village is a historical community in Mississauga, 99% of the homes were built in the last 15 years making it a newer community. Homes in Olde Meadowvale Village are in high demand due to the exclusivity of the area and good schools. The design theme of the community was to keep a historic flare, even in the newer builds, so you will see country charm such as gingerbread details on many of the homes.
Olde Meadowvale Village appeals to professional families that are looking for secluded village living but with access to all the big city amenities. The great schools, proximity to business parks and green space means there’s a little reason to have to leave.
Meadowvale Village has a distinct look and feel to it due to the influence of the small historic Olde Meadowvale Village. Subdivision homes were built with charming architectural features found on old Victorian folk homes such as gingerbread trim and decorative windows. It’s important to note that the vast majority of homes in the area have been build in the past 20 years, and most people live in the newer subdivision surrounding the historic village.
The little pocket of Olde Meadowvale Village is what the community is well known for, the historic homes and small village feeling. Founded by Irish settlers nearly 200 years ago, owners have taken pride in these homes and keep them up kept as a homage to the area’s past.
It’s important to note that although the larger community is named after the historic village, if I were to guess I would say that less than 5% of the homes in the community are older than 30 years. See the following map that shows the actual historic area (in purple).

The main recreational feature in Meadowvale Village is the Meadowvale Conservation Area, a large naturalized green space that is located on both sides of the Credit River north of Old Derry Rd. The conservation area is popular with walkers, joggers, dog walkers and nature photographers and forms part of the Culham Trail system. The Meadowvale Conservation area is also home to the Credit Valley Conservation Authority.
There are numerous small paths and parks in the community, which is typical of any master planned suburban community. Fletcher’s Flats is a storm water management feature with walking paths that has naturalized and provides a hidden escape for local residents.
Aside from a few small local plazas, there isn’t much in the way of amenities in Meadowvale Village. In general, people who live here do so because of the house, and have to drive everywhere for shopping, fitness and amenities. Residents will head into East Credit or Meadowvale to do their shopping, and will still go to Streetsville for a little bit of culture such as restaurants or community events.
While not the most affordable area in Mississauga, Olde Meadowvale Village does offer a nice neighbourhood at a relatively affordable price.
Because of it’s architecture and design, Olde Meadowvale Village is in high demand. The one drawback is that the area is located along the Pearson airport flight path, so airplane noise in Meadowvale Village is a factor. Having said that, prices do reflect this and if the neighbourhood was not on a flight path prices would be significantly higher.
